July Update: PlayStation 6 and PlayStation Portable future visions

 The recent PlayStation video about the "simulated" technology in development, discussed between AMD and Sony engineers that will power the PlayStation 6 was interesting from a geek point of view. But from a gameplay perspective, there is - IMO - no need for a PlayStation 6 for another few years. Especially with the limp Xbox is-it-isn't-it launch .  July 2026 Update : Sony managed a cannon-fire sized self-inflicted injury by announcing the end of physical releases across the end of the PS5 era and the launch of the PS6. #PSP2 - Will Lego Star Wars III hit PSP2?

Looking through the release lists of games for next year, one struck me as more PSP2 likely than PSP. just looking at the video for Lego Star Wars III, it looks a little too ambitious for the humble PSP but would make another good demonstration of the PSP2's power.



I've seen it tagged as a PSP title on other sites, but the temptation to hold it for PSP2 where it can be compared more directly against the Xbox and PS3 versions must be a big temptation. It is scheduled for release in March 2011, but a teensy delay won't hurt what would probably be a minor delay for the PSP2 launch.
