PlayStation 6 and PlayStation Portable future visions

The recent PlayStation video about the "simulated" technology in development between AMD and Sony engineers that will power the PlayStation 6 was interesting from a geek point of view. But from a gameplay perspective, there is - IMO - no need for a PlayStation 6 for another few years. Especially with the limp Xbox is-it-isn't-it launch .  April 2026 Update:  Compatibility with PS5 and PS4 games seems to be locked-in, as anything the PS6 full fat hardware the portable versions should be able to do as well, with near-invisible trade-offs at the silicon level.  Prices are firming up too with estimates around the PlayStation 6 handheld at between $500 to $700 and a PlayStation 6 at $700 to $1,000, depending on the deepening silicon crisis and Sony's budgeting wizards.  Only a few developers around the world could afford to take advantage of it for AAA+ budget games. Everyone else is still barely cutting the skin of the PS5's power, and most western smaller/indie o...

Some Vita games being improved for PlayStation TV

Buried in the newly-posted PlayStation TV FAQ is more interesting nuggets for Vita owners. US owners will get open beta access to PlayStation Now (open beta) on their Vita or PlayStation TV at launch on October 14. Hopefully EU owners, or some of us, will get that too when it launches here in November, otherwise the PS TV lacks a major selling point.

As an extra bonus, some games will be getting minor upgrades in the move from Vita to PlayStation TV. And, Vita owners can grab the enhanced version for free. Have you seen the PS TV ad?
A selection of popular digital titles including Hotline Miami, Spelunky, and Sound Shapes will be available to purchase on PS TV after launch. Gamers who purchased these titles for the PS Vita systems will be able to download the PS TV versions of these titles, some of which feature enhanced graphics or improved features, to their PS TV systems for no additional charge if they are using the same SEN account.
Not sure if this is old news or not, but since the Vita TV is going to need every bit of ammo it can get when it goes on-sale, I'll file this under every little helps, along with the previous network media player story. See the list of incompatible Vita games here.

Shit out of luck are owners of Sony's own gaming headsets like the Wireless Stereo Headset 2.0, Pulse Wireless Stereo Headset, the new Gold model, or the original Wireless Stereo Headset. None of them are supported, which will chafe for Sony loyalists!
