PSP2, Switch 2 and an Xbox handheld... a brighter portable future?

Japanese sales update, Legend of Heroes hits the top 10 but everyone's waiting for new hardware

For the last week of only Vita 1000 OLED model sales, things haven't gone very well, selling just 6,000 units. It looks like the LCD cavalry in the 2000 model can't come fast enough, but even then will it make much difference with God Eater 2 not due until November? Tune in next week to see what the spike is.

On the plus side, two new Vita games storm into the charts, with the new Legend of Heroes and Warriors Orochi alongside their PS3 brothers with very decent sales, but is seems everyone is waiting for the new hardware. Selling over 100,000 copies between them, the old Vita should surely have seen a bigger sales bump, but I guess the wait goes on.

While Monster Hunter remains at No. 1 its already half-a-million sales behind the PSP's MH3 sales after three weeks, here's hoping Capcom see the error of its ways soon enough. Or, perhaps the steam is slowly escaping the Monster Hunter bubble.

On the back of those PSP games, the old handheld crossed the 20 million sales point in Japan, well done to Sony for that. This week sales still a healthy 4,805, life time sales now 20,002,464 I asked @yosp if Sony was planning any celebration release or event, but no response.
