Vectrex Mini interview - David Oghia talks up the nostalgic vector powerhouse

Having been wowed by the news of the Vectrex Mini at Gamescom , I rushed off some questions to VectrexOn's main man  David Oghia . After a post-event, well earned, break, he's kindly given us a lot of detail about the project and some new images of the unit to share.  Update: the Vectrex Kickstarter is live and blew past its first funding goal in ab out 15 minutes, and approaching £450K and 2,500 backers in its first day.   His story mirrors mine somewhat, Vectrex represents a glowing, unaffordable, obelisk of gaming power from our youth! But he's had the energy and drive to do something about it, and met the right people to get the job done!  What first got you interested in Vectrex and what spawned the idea of a Mini version? I’ve always been passionate about retro-gaming, but my first love was computers rather than consoles — the ZX81, then the Commodore 128. I only really discovered the console world in the late 90s, which is when I got my very first Vectre...

Sony dominates Japanese chart, Vita not so much

Ragnarok Odyssey Ace gets a top three spot for the Vita in Japan's latest chart, shifting 30,000 copies. Even so, with a decent marketing campaign, lots of crossovers and decent review scores, it should have done better.

Correspondingly, hardware sales are sliding down again, at 8,504 marking its worst performance for many months, since the price cut in fact. Even so, the Vita has three games in the top 25, which is a rarity and a few PSP games keep chipping away at the top ten, showing further life in the old dog. Does Sony have any big hitters left in the bag for the Vita this year?

Japan has got a Legend of Heroes at the end of this month, God Eater 2 isn't out until mid-November, there's another Atelier title due around then too, plus more Gundam and other staples. GE2 aside, and Sony's own Freedom Wars, there's isn't too much for even rabid Japanese gamers to get excited about, and Tokyo Games Show is unlikely to set pulses racing.
