July Update: PlayStation 6 and PlayStation Portable future visions

 The recent PlayStation video about the "simulated" technology in development, discussed between AMD and Sony engineers that will power the PlayStation 6 was interesting from a geek point of view. But from a gameplay perspective, there is - IMO - no need for a PlayStation 6 for another few years. Especially with the limp Xbox is-it-isn't-it launch .  July 2026 Update : Sony managed a cannon-fire sized self-inflicted injury by announcing the end of physical releases across the end of the PS5 era and the launch of the PS6. Final Fantasy Type-0 Getting Digital Release, Deluxe Version

Despite being a double UMD monster (theoretically about 2.4 to 3.2GB, depending on what you read) the upcoming Final Fantasy Type-0 game is being made available as a digital download. So, time to clean off that old 4GB MemoryStick you had lurking around. Have you tried the Type-0 demo yet? Well worth a shot.

UPDATE: The game got a great review in Famitsu, looks like the real deal!



Aside from making the game playable on the PS Vita (assuming the cross format compatibility holds-up), it will save Japanese gamers 1,500yen  but does rather take the gloss off the lovely limited edition version. Of course, there's no guarantee that the west will get a digital release, whenever the game releases over here.
