Festive portable deals take off from Xbox Ally, Nintendo, PlayStation and Evercade

This page started for black Friday but has moved on as the deals come and go. I will update across the festive sales, as new portable hardware deals appear. I won't hype them as "pocket change" or "fire sale" like some sites, because that's bollocks.  December deals :  Evercade has 30% off various hardware, depending on the store, check the blog for details .  PlayStation Portal is currently £20 off on Amazon UK  (another £10 off for refurbs)  Update: Valve has jumped in with 20% off the Steam Deck LCD 256GB model (down to £279 in the UK) Update: Xbox Ally has various deals (pretty short-lived, but likely getting cut again for the post Christmas sale).  Update: PlayStation Portal has £20 off the range, bringing the white and black models down to £179, and 30th Anniversary Edition to £189. (Look out for another 5% off at checkout!)  First up is  Evercade offering a clutch of offers on hardware and games on Amazon and across other stores in Europ...

Lumo 2 lights up on consoles

Bringing the isometric puzzle and adventure joy of Spectrum gaming into the modern age, Lumo from developer Triple Eh? (aka Gareth Noyce) was one of favourite Vita indies, almost a decade years ago. But then, nothing.

Now, Numskull has relit the flame with a sequel, Lumo 2, that popped into existence pretty much out of nowhere (certainly to me).

Throwing out nods to the likes of Mission Impossible, Uridium and Space Harrier among the many mini-games and levels, it is a, extended, glossier, love letter to classic gaming and looks like a higher-fidelity, trickier adventure.

I was delighted to see the floating little wizard character adorning new box art for this successor offering more retro-fun gaming, and even better that its already out on digital stores and physical shelves featuring:

  • 100 Puzzle-Filled Rooms – Navigate intricate, interconnected challenges that test your platforming skills.
  • Classic Arcade Mini-Games – Master three retro-inspired mini-games that shake up the adventure.
  • Treasure Hunt – Track down 25 hidden cassettes and relive the nostalgia of the 8-bit era.
  • Daring Duck Challenges – Collect 20 elusive ducks, each demanding precision and skill to reach.
With the physical release on Switch and PS5 in standard or collectors' editions with plenty of goodies, help celebrate the joy of retro with a little Lumo in your life.

Current pricing:
Digital eShop £15.99 (launch sale, normally £19.99)
Digital PSN £19.99
Standard physical £34.99
Collector physical £49.99
