Vectrex Mini interview - David Oghia talks up the nostalgic vector powerhouse

Having been wowed by the news of the Vectrex Mini at Gamescom , I rushed off some questions to VectrexOn's main man  David Oghia . After a post-event, well earned, break, he's kindly given us a lot of detail about the project and some new images of the unit to share.  His story mirrors mine somewhat, Vectrex represents a glowing, unaffordable, obelisk of gaming power from our youth! But he's had the energy and drive to do something about it, and met the right people to get the job done!  What first got you interested in Vectrex and what spawned the idea of a Mini version? I’ve always been passionate about retro-gaming, but my first love was computers rather than consoles — the ZX81, then the Commodore 128. I only really discovered the console world in the late 90s, which is when I got my very first Vectrex. Of course, I had seen it in stores back in 1983, but at that time it was far too expensive for me.  Today, I own five Vectrex systems at home. Vector-based games ...

Vita's Fate/Stay Night remastered for Switch

The Vita continues to provide a steady diet for today's consoles with a remaster of Fate/Stay Night Réalta Nua heading to the Switch and Steam via Type Moon This marks the first time the visual novel is available in English, arriving August 8th, and also Simplified Chinese for that massive market.

Update: Continuing the Fate news barrage, Fate/Extra Record, a remake of the PSP combat title will hit PS5 and PS4, Switch, & Steam at some point in 2025. Set during the Holy Grail War, it ups the action with dungeon exploring preceding tournament battles (video below).

Original article continues... Ghostlight brought many of the Fate games over the PSP back in the day, with Marvelous taking over the mantle with the Extra/Extella action series in the Vita era. The remaster hits on the 8th August, with a price around $/£30. A remastered version of Fate/stay night, the fantasy action drama visual novel and Type Moon's first-ever commercial release in 2004, is back in time for its 20th anniversary.

The full HD graphics help tell the story of Shirou Emiya, a teenager dreaming of becoming a Hero of Justice, and his battle revolving around the omnipotent wish-granting vessel, the Holy Grail. Not hard to imagine other games in the series being dusted off if this does decent business.

Note the console version of the Fate/Stay Night series dropped the PC's adult themes for more detailed stories and characters, but I guess some players will still moan about the shift.
