Vectrex Mini interview - David Oghia talks up the nostalgic vector powerhouse

Having been wowed by the news of the Vectrex Mini at Gamescom , I rushed off some questions to VectrexOn's main man  David Oghia . After a post-event, well earned, break, he's kindly given us a lot of detail about the project and some new images of the unit to share.  His story mirrors mine somewhat, Vectrex represents a glowing, unaffordable, obelisk of gaming power from our youth! But he's had the energy and drive to do something about it, and met the right people to get the job done!  What first got you interested in Vectrex and what spawned the idea of a Mini version? I’ve always been passionate about retro-gaming, but my first love was computers rather than consoles — the ZX81, then the Commodore 128. I only really discovered the console world in the late 90s, which is when I got my very first Vectrex. Of course, I had seen it in stores back in 1983, but at that time it was far too expensive for me.  Today, I own five Vectrex systems at home. Vector-based games ...

Atari 50 Extended Edition expands on Atari's legacy

Somewhat ironically, I got told off by Digital Eclipse last year about talking up the idea of Atari 50 DLC before it was officially announced. Now, the developer and Atari 50 (review) are doing so well, that we're getting a new version (available as even more DLC for existing owners) with 39 new games for acolytes of the once-galant brand.

Arriving in October, Atari 50 EE gets a physical release on Switch and PlayStation 5, with a whole new mix of video and editorial content alongside the games, presented in the impressive format that Digital Eclipse has mastered for the likes of the Jeff Minter Llamasoft story.

Atari 50 Collection Extended Edition

No news on the games or platforms yet, although it'd be great to see more from the Lynx and Jaguar, and *cough* Activision titles, but we live in hope. The themes for the new encyclopedia strands are The Wider World of Atari and The First Console War. This approach to education and information makes Atari 50 more interesting than just ramming a fistful of games and art into a package and calling it a collection.

Of course, it'd be rude not to mention the upcoming Atari Super Pocket with 50 games and access to the complete Evercade library in the most portable format in gaming.
