Vectrex Mini interview - David Oghia talks up the nostalgic vector powerhouse

Having been wowed by the news of the Vectrex Mini at Gamescom , I rushed off some questions to VectrexOn's main man  David Oghia . After a post-event, well earned, break, he's kindly given us a lot of detail about the project and some new images of the unit to share.  His story mirrors mine somewhat, Vectrex represents a glowing, unaffordable, obelisk of gaming power from our youth! But he's had the energy and drive to do something about it, and met the right people to get the job done!  What first got you interested in Vectrex and what spawned the idea of a Mini version? I’ve always been passionate about retro-gaming, but my first love was computers rather than consoles — the ZX81, then the Commodore 128. I only really discovered the console world in the late 90s, which is when I got my very first Vectrex. Of course, I had seen it in stores back in 1983, but at that time it was far too expensive for me.  Today, I own five Vectrex systems at home. Vector-based games ...

Freedom Wars and Soul Sacrifice lose online for Christmas

Two of the Vita's major exclusives, Soul Sacrifice and Freedom Wars will go dark online on December 24th. Both are titles that strongly deserve another shot at PS5 life, had Sony not shut down Studio Japan. The news from Sony comes as no surprise, as part of the company's efforts to move on from the Vita and burn its legacy to the ground.

Update: If there is an upside to this, lots of people are playing these games and the online is buzzing as players try to collect the rarer trophies.

I guess all that's really left among the big names is Killzone Mercenary and even that will likely drop off soon. On the plus side, lots of owners were downloading Freedom Wars again for a final bash, annoyingly my save has vanished somewhere or is on another memory card, but let's rush toward those final trophies!

Soul Sacrifice I never got into quite as much, but the Delta version is packed full of character and style, well worth digging out for a last hurrah! Hopefully playing ad hoc mode will see a few players get together to continue the quests.
