SkullPirates nears physical release for Kickstarter backers

Arcade Distillery's pirate-themed action role-player SkullPirates must be nearly out the door as a trophy listing has appeared. That follows on from a recent backer update showing some gameplay (video below, showing off Luc Bernard's distinctive visual style). The kickstarted projected passed Sony QA and has been produced, with shipments looking to start this month.

The story of SkullPirates follows a ship crewed by the dead and flying the black flag of piracy. Sailors say a skeletal army lives within its hold, waiting to assault unwary vessels and steal their treasure. In hushed tones, their name is uttered: “SkullPirates”

Their captain, Skull Queen, has a fearsome reputation as a cutthroat hunter of the seas. She should; she spent a whole lot on marketing to cultivate that image. She also spent a lot on weapons, cannons, clothes, hats, boots, jewelry, couches, and drapes. But most of all, she spent money on her prized ship, “The Coccyx Avenger”.

Along with this rare trinket of a Skull Pirates boxed copy, backers will also get codes for the Plague Universe Collection that contains Death Tales, Plague Road (the original) and War Theatre. Some unsold copies (there was a minimum production limit) will also be sold by the publisher if you didn't back the kickstarter. The PS4 version will release later.
