As with any game with an online feature, there's always that nagging doubt that one day, all that hard work or enjoyable access will just vanish one day. And so it comes to pass with another legacy PlayStation title, with LittleBigPlanet for PS3 and Vita moving into the dark ages.
Using safety and protection as an excuse seems a bit lame, even after some recent rumoured DDoS activity (which happens to most sites and services who magically come back up and carry on). In the meantime, there's still freebie endless waddler, Run Sackboy Run.
But I can imagine the minimal use they get makes it uneconomic, even if it sticks in the throats of creators and fans. And that's really the nasty part for people who build worlds and cunning levels out of the many creative tools LBP offered suddenly being cut off. And it still offers infinite creativity, even if Media Molecule stepped aside after the Marvel edition.Guess its just Need for Speed, Ridge Racer and Killzone Mercenary still going (any others spring to mind?) Of course, we can still create our own little worlds, but surely the geniuses at MM could figure out a way for private sharing? Didn't that exist at some point?
And all might not be lost as levels that were published might be able to be imported to LBP3 on a PS4 (although I'm not sure how) and kept alive on that platform.
