PSP2, Switch 2 and an Xbox handheld... a brighter portable future?

Watch the Evercade VS Event livestream today

Whatever they have to show today, the Blaze Entertainment and Evercade team has carved out a brilliant niche in retro gaming on a smart little £60 handheld. Anyone doing that with so much love, legally and without the usual retro taxes, bringing much-loved and lesser-known games back to life deserves respect.

Update: Check out what was revealed! Or catch up with the stream below.

While the market hots up with other competitors looking firmly at the fat profit angle, Evercade will always hold a special place in my heart for putting gamers first and engaging us in ways that larger players often ignore.

So, on to the difficult second product/album/novel/whatever. The old website has already gone down, with a placeholder for the all-new products.

There have been a few hints with nods to a cloud service, perhaps a full-size console, the "vs" likely meaning multiplayer and full arcade versions promised.

All or some of that would be great to see today, and perhaps tie-ins with higher-tier gaming publishers who can see the value in their retro-archives.

Anyway, very annoyingly, I'm busy on work calls at the time so will miss the live event, but enjoy the livesteam here, and I'll catch up with everything on the other side.
