Vectrex Mini interview - David Oghia talks up the nostalgic vector powerhouse

Having been wowed by the news of the Vectrex Mini at Gamescom , I rushed off some questions to VectrexOn's main man  David Oghia . After a post-event, well earned, break, he's kindly given us a lot of detail about the project and some new images of the unit to share.  His story mirrors mine somewhat, Vectrex represents a glowing, unaffordable, obelisk of gaming power from our youth! But he's had the energy and drive to do something about it, and met the right people to get the job done!  What first got you interested in Vectrex and what spawned the idea of a Mini version? I’ve always been passionate about retro-gaming, but my first love was computers rather than consoles — the ZX81, then the Commodore 128. I only really discovered the console world in the late 90s, which is when I got my very first Vectrex. Of course, I had seen it in stores back in 1983, but at that time it was far too expensive for me.  Today, I own five Vectrex systems at home. Vector-based games ...

My Aunt is a Witch VN spooks the Vita

A little late for Halloween, but Sometimes You is bringing Graven's witchy visual novel to consoles including the Vita. My Aunt is a Witch, known as Bewitched in its PC incarnation, goes for a bright art style that should pop on OLED screens.

Update: Trophy listing live

The tale revolves around a boy named Thomas, who has a difficult life that gets worse when his father marries a woman who simply can’t stand her stepson. His whole life changes with a sudden trip to his aunt, whom he visited once many years ago. Now he is definitely distracted from all sad thoughts, because his aunt Alice is a real witch who has a talking cat and a bunch of magical things, and her house is not exactly the right place for little boys. But despite all the dangers, Thomas accepts the challenge and firmly decides to reach the heights of potion-making and to reveal all the secrets hidden behind the magical barrier.

Full of adventure, it doesn't look like the typical love-quest or NSFW visual novels that are starting to dominate the landscape. Hope they increased the size of the conversational text for the Vita's smaller screen. The game lands on November 25th and will be $9.99.

In the wider context, I was really looking forward to some of Ratalaika's visual novel output, but since they dropped Vita support thanks to Sony's COVID woes, hopefully others will pick up the pace if there are easy-port engines or games on offer.
