Vectrex Mini interview - David Oghia talks up the nostalgic vector powerhouse

Having been wowed by the news of the Vectrex Mini at Gamescom , I rushed off some questions to VectrexOn's main man  David Oghia . After a post-event, well earned, break, he's kindly given us a lot of detail about the project and some new images of the unit to share.  His story mirrors mine somewhat, Vectrex represents a glowing, unaffordable, obelisk of gaming power from our youth! But he's had the energy and drive to do something about it, and met the right people to get the job done!  What first got you interested in Vectrex and what spawned the idea of a Mini version? I’ve always been passionate about retro-gaming, but my first love was computers rather than consoles — the ZX81, then the Commodore 128. I only really discovered the console world in the late 90s, which is when I got my very first Vectrex. Cute shooter Takotan heading the to the Vita

Out now on other platforms but coming to the Vita soon, Takotan from Eastasiasoft is a cute shooter with a chubby little octopus as the hero. His world has been taken over by an alien invasion, and only he can rescue humanity from the incoming alien hordes. 

Update: three sets of Vita trophy listings are now live, so should be out soon, not sure if its Cross Buy, so don't grab the PS4 version by mistake. The Asia/US release date is confirmed as 23 October, with an EU date to follow. 


Takotan is a retro shoot’em up inspired by 16-bit classics. Save the world from alien invasion by shooting and dodging through 8 action-packed levels with sinister bosses under water, in space and elsewhere! There are plenty of power-ups including lasers, bowling balls and ninja stars to take down enemies and defend the planet.

More info and screens here, EAS confirmed the Vita release in a tweet, with "later" as the timeframe, but its not on the site yet.
