Vectrex Mini interview - David Oghia talks up the nostalgic vector powerhouse

Having been wowed by the news of the Vectrex Mini at Gamescom , I rushed off some questions to VectrexOn's main man  David Oghia . After a post-event, well earned, break, he's kindly given us a lot of detail about the project and some new images of the unit to share.  His story mirrors mine somewhat, Vectrex represents a glowing, unaffordable, obelisk of gaming power from our youth! But he's had the energy and drive to do something about it, and met the right people to get the job done!  What first got you interested in Vectrex and what spawned the idea of a Mini version? I’ve always been passionate about retro-gaming, but my first love was computers rather than consoles — the ZX81, then the Commodore 128. I only really discovered the console world in the late 90s, which is when I got my very first Vectrex. Of course, I had seen it in stores back in 1983, but at that time it was far too expensive for me.  Today, I own five Vectrex systems at home. Vector-based games ...

Xeno Crisis gets a Vita trophy listing

Update: confirmed and with a physical release including soundtrack CD and . Pre-orders go live on 9th July and arrive in September. I will fight the lot of you down to my last grenade at the gates of Outpost 88 to grab one of the 2,000 copies!

Side note, I wonder if Strictly Limited's Ultracore (which also got a fresh trophy listing) is headed the same route to get that much craved physical?

Original Story:

I love this retro/modern Mega Drive shooter on my Switch (review) from Bitmap Bureau, it is classic gaming brilliance, but also a game that will definitely feel better on the Vita. But, why bother with such a small user base? However, having run the Switch, PS4, PC, Mega Drive, Dreamcast and NEO GEO owners dry, the developers are probably wondering where else it can go?

Xeno Crisis is arriving on the Evercade in October, but us loyal Vita buyers might be excited as a trophy listing has turned up, suggesting that we're next on the list, perhaps with a neat physical from a suitably connected publisher.

Last year, Bitmap Bureau said: "It would be very cool to see Xeno Crisis on the PS Vita, but we already have enough work to do with finishing the Dreamcast and Neo Geo versions, sorry! Confused face."

And with work finishing up on those versions, I guess they're at a loose end before starting on a sequel or an all-new project. So, here's hoping this isn't another faux-listing. No official word yet, but pretty sure this would sell decent numbers by Vita standards.

Currently playing on my Vita/PS3/PS4/PS5
