Vectrex Mini interview - David Oghia talks up the nostalgic vector powerhouse

Having been wowed by the news of the Vectrex Mini at Gamescom , I rushed off some questions to VectrexOn's main man  David Oghia . After a post-event, well earned, break, he's kindly given us a lot of detail about the project and some new images of the unit to share.  His story mirrors mine somewhat, Vectrex represents a glowing, unaffordable, obelisk of gaming power from our youth! But he's had the energy and drive to do something about it, and met the right people to get the job done!  What first got you interested in Vectrex and what spawned the idea of a Mini version? I’ve always been passionate about retro-gaming, but my first love was computers rather than consoles — the ZX81, then the Commodore 128. I only really discovered the console world in the late 90s, which is when I got my very first Vectrex. Of course, I had seen it in stores back in 1983, but at that time it was far too expensive for me.  Today, I own five Vectrex systems at home. Vector-based games ...

Colt Canyon shoots up the Switch soon

Imagine the Capcom classic Commando, set in a sepia-toned wild west, and with a more open world. Enter the dusty world of Colt Canyon, from Retrific and Headup, where you must rescue your partner in an atmospheric and punchy roguelike six-shooter game.

Colt Canyon is a 2D pixel art shooter where you control a cowboy, or one of the many other unlockable characters, whose mission is to save his kidnapped partner from the ruthless bandits. Take your gun and TNT and shoot your way through a hostile canyon full of hidden treasures, weapons, obstacles and all kinds of bloodthirsty scum. Maybe you can save more people than just your partner. But watch out. Once you got your partner your job is not done. You'll also have to get back home...

Features include a range of innovations beyond the smart look. Colt Canyon is skill-based, not about grinding, with a range of roguelike characters and weapons to play and unlock.

Dynamic and immersive environments and enemies plus AI-controlled companions and local Co-op all help add to the action, while upgrades for you and your companions across the randomized, persistent and open levels should give it plenty of depth (and death) with strategic stealth, and fast-paced action and boss fights.

The game hits the Switch on the 16th June and has me all kinds of intrigued!
