Guess it is almost a blessing that I just finished the pixel-perils of 0000 because here comes PXLInk's Reed Remastered with a similar challenge but a totally different look to it. Vivid, with lashings of screen shake, it goes to the other end of the scale as you try for pretty much the same aim, find the key, then make it to the door.
Between those objectives lie the usual jumps, dodges and combination moves to get across the spinning blades, moving platforms, flying arrows, chickens and other perils of this strange alien world of 50 levels that the slightly feline-like creature find itself trapped in. The aim is to find the cube on each level to reboot a computer, for reasons? Doesn't really matter, having honed my skills on 0000, it only took a while to blaze through this brief adventure.
Mostly, they won't kill you directly, your own mistakes or waverings are responsible for another of many demises. Then there's the tricky layouts, requiring leaps of faith of blind guesswork to land on the right moving platform.
But with striking visuals with some cues borrowed from Fez by the look of it, and a neat ambient soundtrack, it is hard to mind going over the same steps until you get it exactly right and ping out to the next level. Sure, it would be good with some more variety and colour schemes, but hopefully sequels with more scope are on the way.
There's a few secrets to find, but really on a game of this narrow scale, there should be a lot more, The developer could also have done more with the characters. Otherwise, this is a short and sweet dive into clinging on to your sanity, or your Vita, before one or other hits the wall - or you make it out alive, after an hour of so of brief, bright, distraction.
Developer PXLink/Ratalaika
Price: £3.99 (PSN)
Score: 6/10
Progress: Platinum and Finished
