July Update: PlayStation 6 and PlayStation Portable future visions

 The recent PlayStation video about the "simulated" technology in development, discussed between AMD and Sony engineers that will power the PlayStation 6 was interesting from a geek point of view. But from a gameplay perspective, there is - IMO - no need for a PlayStation 6 for another few years. Especially with the limp Xbox is-it-isn't-it launch .  July 2026 Update : Sony managed a cannon-fire sized self-inflicted injury by announcing the end of physical releases across the end of the PS5 era and the launch of the PS6. Evercade handheld launching soon, picks up 17 Lynx games

If you love your handheld retro fun, and want to go beyond the NES and SNES games on the Switch, Evercade is looking like the portable to go to, a low-cost smart handheld with TV-out backing in classics from across the 8-bit to 16-bit eras.

With a new cart just announced packing in 17 Atari Lynx games on the way. The £80 unit lands in May and will bring all sorts of classic fun to a new generation of gamers and connects to TVs via HDMI with support for 4x3 and 16*9 display.

The Lynx games include Scrapyard Dog, Basketbrawl, Super Asteroids/Missile Command®, Awesome Golf, Crystal Mines II: Buried Treasure, Dracula the Undead, Malibu Bikini Volleyball and some later indie releases. But no RoadBlasters, which was probably Atari's finest game on the Lynx.



Other cards will include collections from DataEast, Namco, Technos and many more, and at a decent price compared to some of the arcade collections available on various consoles, it looks like a solid investment.
