Vectrex Mini interview - David Oghia talks up the nostalgic vector powerhouse

Having been wowed by the news of the Vectrex Mini at Gamescom , I rushed off some questions to VectrexOn's main man  David Oghia . After a post-event, well earned, break, he's kindly given us a lot of detail about the project and some new images of the unit to share.  His story mirrors mine somewhat, Vectrex represents a glowing, unaffordable, obelisk of gaming power from our youth! But he's had the energy and drive to do something about it, and met the right people to get the job done!  What first got you interested in Vectrex and what spawned the idea of a Mini version? I’ve always been passionate about retro-gaming, but my first love was computers rather than consoles — the ZX81, then the Commodore 128. I only really discovered the console world in the late 90s, which is when I got my very first Vectrex. Switch sales smash up the Japanese chart

The unstoppable Switch continues to churn out money for Nintendo in Japan, as the holiday season sales start in earnest. Switch hardware hit a year's best and best week since launch, with a scorching 281,000 units. That's a monstrous 75% of the whole Japanese hardware market, helped by the arrival of Super Smash Bros.

SSB sold 1.2 million copies, with 8 of the top 10 games in the Media Create chart for the hybrid, showing just how much Japan loves their Switches.  Pokemon Let's go crossed the million mark in second place, with old stagers like Mario Kart 8 and Splatoon 2 selling well as new Switch buyers stock up.

Overall, the Switch has taken less than two years to outsell the Vita in Japan, an impressive achievement and a sad indictment on how poorly Sony handled its second and last handheld.
