July Update: PlayStation 6 and PlayStation Portable future visions

 The recent PlayStation video about the "simulated" technology in development, discussed between AMD and Sony engineers that will power the PlayStation 6 was interesting from a geek point of view. But from a gameplay perspective, there is - IMO - no need for a PlayStation 6 for another few years. Especially with the limp Xbox is-it-isn't-it launch .  July 2026 Update : Sony managed a cannon-fire sized self-inflicted injury by announcing the end of physical releases across the end of the PS5 era and the launch of the PS6. Dragon Fantasy: The Black Tome of Ice pops up on PSN

I do sort of love that the odd "from out of nowhere" mystery game can still arrive on PSN, but it does suggest that publishers have just given up, and will throw out a game with no fanfare whatsoever. Which is quite a shame as Dragon Fantasy: The Black Tome of Ice does have a decent fanfare in the soundtrack.

At heart it looks like a classic retro RPG, out now on EU PSN for £7.39 developed by Muteki Corporation. There's some Mode 7 style maps to navigate and lots of Final Fantasy style chat and plenty of battling. Could be good, could be very vanilla.
