Vectrex Mini interview - David Oghia talks up the nostalgic vector powerhouse

Having been wowed by the news of the Vectrex Mini at Gamescom , I rushed off some questions to VectrexOn's main man  David Oghia . After a post-event, well earned, break, he's kindly given us a lot of detail about the project and some new images of the unit to share.  His story mirrors mine somewhat, Vectrex represents a glowing, unaffordable, obelisk of gaming power from our youth! But he's had the energy and drive to do something about it, and met the right people to get the job done!  What first got you interested in Vectrex and what spawned the idea of a Mini version? I’ve always been passionate about retro-gaming, but my first love was computers rather than consoles — the ZX81, then the Commodore 128. I only really discovered the console world in the late 90s, which is when I got my very first Vectrex. Are the Japanese moving from Vita to PS4? Latest Media Create sales

Well, that's not good news. On the last of the quiet weeks for the Japanese games market, PS4 sales are headed up, while Vita sales continue to slide, down to just over 10,500. Dragon Ball: Xenoverse helps shift some PS4s, taking No. 2 in the chart behind the PS3 version in this week's Media Create chart.

The Vita saw the Best of release of Persona 4 Golden shift 3,500 copies and a new Photokana Kiss games sell 9,500 but the PS4 is seeing a momentum shift. This week's releases of Ukiyo Bruno Warriors, Sengoku Musuo 4-II will hopefully see things tick up before next week's big bad arrival of God Eater 2 Rage Burst.

With the Vita already 50,000 sales down on last year's so far, that's a lot of pressure on one game, which will also hit the PS4, which direction will the sales favour? Guess we'll find out in a couple of weeks.
