July Update: PlayStation 6 and PlayStation Portable future visions

 The recent PlayStation video about the "simulated" technology in development, discussed between AMD and Sony engineers that will power the PlayStation 6 was interesting from a geek point of view. But from a gameplay perspective, there is - IMO - no need for a PlayStation 6 for another few years. Especially with the limp Xbox is-it-isn't-it launch .  July 2026 Update : Sony managed a cannon-fire sized self-inflicted injury by announcing the end of physical releases across the end of the PS5 era and the launch of the PS6. Space explorer Drifter rockets to the Vita

Feeling a bit let own by Starlight Inception? Well (a) don't because the team are working on any problems with the game and (b) Canadian studio Celsius is bringing Drifter to the Vita and PS4. A more open space exploring, trading and combat game, it looks a lot more modern, having migrated over from the PC.

It looks pretty slick on the PC, I'll try and chase up some Vita imagery and a date, although it looks being done for later in the year.

UPDATE: During PSX2016, developer suggests an early 2017 release.
