July Update: PlayStation 6 and PlayStation Portable future visions

 The recent PlayStation video about the "simulated" technology in development, discussed between AMD and Sony engineers that will power the PlayStation 6 was interesting from a geek point of view. But from a gameplay perspective, there is - IMO - no need for a PlayStation 6 for another few years. Especially with the limp Xbox is-it-isn't-it launch .  July 2026 Update : Sony managed a cannon-fire sized self-inflicted injury by announcing the end of physical releases across the end of the PS5 era and the launch of the PS6. Greatness is portable according to new Sony advert

Not sure if this is a broadcast ad, or just Sony preaching to the converted online, but at least it shows PS4 and Vita as very much part of a family, and pretty easy to move a game between the two of them with the lovely firmware 3.00 update (see the new guide).

I think it shows Sony learnt a lesson and won't forget about the Vita in the same way they dumped the PSP when the PS3 arrived, but the Vita itself still needs some big games to sell after Tearaway arrives and there's precious little sign of them, so far.
