July Update: PlayStation 6 and PlayStation Portable future visions

The recent PlayStation video about the "simulated" technology in development, discussed between AMD and Sony engineers that will power the PlayStation 6 was interesting from a geek point of view. But from a gameplay perspective, there is - IMO - no need for a PlayStation 6 for another few years. Especially with the limp Xbox is-it-isn't-it launch .  July 2026 Update : Sony managed a cannon-fire sized self-inflicted injury by announcing the end of physical releases across the end of the PS5 era and the launch of the PS6. PS Vita firmware update 2.05 in the wings, still no startup tones

A few posts have mentioned a small firmware update for the Vita coming soon, likely today or tomorrow, with hints suggesting v2.05 being just a bug fix, with no new features. Keep an eye out for it, but it doesn't look too exciting.

Hopefully a pretty soonish update will link social media links to the appropriate app rather than the browser and speed up file copying. BUT IT STILL DOESN'T DO ANYTHING AT STARTUP. That really annoys me and is just one of the many examples where Sony has lost the plot.

Remember those PlayStation One tones, that was damn iconic. The Vita lacks any such feature (I wouldn't mind if it only plays on cold  boots) and that's just one reason why its lacks any cool status (IMO).

Currently playing on my Vita/PS3/PS4/PS5
