July Update: PlayStation 6 and PlayStation Portable future visions

The recent PlayStation video about the "simulated" technology in development, discussed between AMD and Sony engineers that will power the PlayStation 6 was interesting from a geek point of view. But from a gameplay perspective, there is - IMO - no need for a PlayStation 6 for another few years. Especially with the limp Xbox is-it-isn't-it launch .  July 2026 Update : Sony managed a cannon-fire sized self-inflicted injury by announcing the end of physical releases across the end of the PS5 era and the launch of the PS6. LBP's Double Eleven developing for the Vita and PSN

Double Eleven did the grunt work of converting the PS3 LittleBigPlanet game to the Vita, while Tarsier came up with the level design. The company now plans to go its own way, developing for PSN on both Vita and PS3, and publishing titles from other indies.

The company's site says: "Double Eleven have launched a new venture into video games publishing. We will be expanding into marketing and distributing of our own games, and of other indie studios’ games. Initially, we will be using the PlayStation Network (PSN) as our main digital distribution platform, supporting both the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita formats."

Double Eleven is looking for project managers and UI designers as it expands, and while there's no games listed yet, other than a "coming soon" for the next project, they should be a team to watch. Hopefully they, and the likes of FuturLab, Ripstone and others keep the Vita's flag (and UK development) flying.

Currently playing on my Vita/PS3/PS4/PS5
