Vectrex Mini interview - David Oghia talks up the nostalgic vector powerhouse

Having been wowed by the news of the Vectrex Mini at Gamescom , I rushed off some questions to VectrexOn's main man  David Oghia . After a post-event, well earned, break, he's kindly given us a lot of detail about the project and some new images of the unit to share.  His story mirrors mine somewhat, Vectrex represents a glowing, unaffordable, obelisk of gaming power from our youth! But he's had the energy and drive to do something about it, and met the right people to get the job done!  What first got you interested in Vectrex and what spawned the idea of a Mini version? I’ve always been passionate about retro-gaming, but my first love was computers rather than consoles — the ZX81, then the Commodore 128. I only really discovered the console world in the late 90s, which is when I got my very first Vectrex. Pure Chess coming to Vita today

The best looking chess game I've seen will be hitting PSN today. The game is developed by VooFoo and will be published by Ripstone and aims to reflect the beauty and depth of the widely respected game. Chess is one of the world’s most played, popular and recognised games and to reflect this, Pure Chess was developed with the aid of a chess Grandmaster, the highest title a chess player can attain, price should be around £4.99.



The title aims to appeal to a wide audience with various tutorials to allow beginners to take part, improve their chess skills and become a Grandmaster in their own right. Pure Chess is a classic strategy board game which is brought to life with stunning graphics and a series of interactive game modes. More here.

UPDATE: Just checked with the publisher's PR and you can buy the game on either PS3 or Vita and then play it on both devices. ANOTHER UPDATE - Or not, the developer says it is two distinct purchases... guess we'll find out soon enough.
