PSP2, Switch 2 and an Xbox handheld... a brighter portable future?

Atelier Lydie & Souer Alchemists of the Mysterious Painting goes on show in Japan this winter

The Atelier series will never die, celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. I guess it will continue to run on the Vita as long as Gust can drag a few frames per second out of that aging engine. The new title, Atelier Lydie & Souer: Alchemists of the Mysterious Painting offers a dual-character adventure with the usual Atelier potionery (not an actual word) and adventuring.

UPDATE: Teaser site live, and now I know how to spell their names properly (edit, edit, edit) with some special editions and pre-order DLC costumes on show.

It sees a pair of sisters of the Marlen family, able to enter a mysterious world inside a painting. Having said that, there's just this one piece of art for now. Hopefully, a trailer will arrive soon, there's talk of improved 3D models, but I guess that won't apply to the Vita version. I'd like to think western sales of the series are strong enough to merit a version coming our way in 2018.

The game is also coming to Switch and PS4, so its likely only a matter of time before the Vita version drops off the bottom of the list if sales are deemed insufficient by the Gust bean counters.
