Vectrex Mini interview - David Oghia talks up the nostalgic vector powerhouse

Having been wowed by the news of the Vectrex Mini at Gamescom , I rushed off some questions to VectrexOn's main man  David Oghia . After a post-event, well earned, break, he's kindly given us a lot of detail about the project and some new images of the unit to share.  His story mirrors mine somewhat, Vectrex represents a glowing, unaffordable, obelisk of gaming power from our youth! But he's had the energy and drive to do something about it, and met the right people to get the job done!  What first got you interested in Vectrex and what spawned the idea of a Mini version? I’ve always been passionate about retro-gaming, but my first love was computers rather than consoles — the ZX81, then the Commodore 128. I only really discovered the console world in the late 90s, which is when I got my very first Vectrex. Vita sales slides further in Japan

Is it time to ring the alarm bell yet on Vita sales in its home territory? Fair enough, its a quiet week all round, with no new game, but dipping to just below 6,000 sales on the new Media Create chart data is among the worst performances across the Vita's lifetime.

Blue Reflection is already out the chart on Vita and Musou All Stars is dropping fast, while the PS4 versions at least show some resistance. Nintendo's Switch continues to sell out wherever stocks are found, so things are looking slightly bleak on the Vita front.

Does everyone in Japan who wants one now own a Vita? Will future sales just be replacements? Is Sony's sudden interest way too little, too late. The good news is, it doesn't really matter for us, we have a long list of games over the next year, some will be cancelled sure, but the rest will make it and be enjoyed by the loyal Vita community.
