July Update: PlayStation 6 and PlayStation Portable future visions

The recent PlayStation video about the "simulated" technology in development, discussed between AMD and Sony engineers that will power the PlayStation 6 was interesting from a geek point of view. But from a gameplay perspective, there is - IMO - no need for a PlayStation 6 for another few years. Especially with the limp Xbox is-it-isn't-it launch .  July 2026 Update : Sony managed a cannon-fire sized self-inflicted injury by announcing the end of physical releases across the end of the PS5 era and the launch of the PS6. Muramasa tops 100,000 in Japan

The remake of the Wii game seems to have found a spiritual home on the Vita with a combined total of downloads and physical copies over 100,000 sales, as announced by the game's Twitter account. As of last week Oboro Muramasa had sold 67,000 boxed copies, so assuming 70,000 by this week, that's 30,000 digital sales, which will make a handy comparison point for how much of the Vita's sales are online-over store-purchased.

And the game is headed west fairly soon, in June thanks to Aksys, so should continue to do the business with lots of good things being said about the lovingly crafted visuals.

Currently playing on my Vita/PS3/PS4/PS5
