July Update: PlayStation 6 and PlayStation Portable future visions

The recent PlayStation video about the "simulated" technology in development, discussed between AMD and Sony engineers that will power the PlayStation 6 was interesting from a geek point of view. But from a gameplay perspective, there is - IMO - no need for a PlayStation 6 for another few years. Especially with the limp Xbox is-it-isn't-it launch .  July 2026 Update : Sony managed a cannon-fire sized self-inflicted injury by announcing the end of physical releases across the end of the PS5 era and the launch of the PS6. Ragnarok Odyssey Ace? It could be better though

Ragnarok Odyssey did pretty well for the Vita in Japan, holding the fort until bigger hunting games could get out. I've played the demo and it does feel a little "lite". Perhaps that'll be tweaked in the new Ace version coming to the Vita and PS3 this summer.

Packed with all the original game's DLC it will also add new content, missions and tweaks, Gung Ho are positioning it as a gateway to a proper sequel, so it'll probably be mid-priced for all these new Vita owners.

UPDATE: Gung-Ho has confirmed the game will get a western release, hopefully with less of delay over the Japanese version (given most of the work is already done).

Currently playing on my Vita/PS3/PS4/PS5
