PSP2, Switch 2 and an Xbox handheld... a brighter portable future?

Digital Downloads already pointless on Vita, memory card costs will wipe out savings

Before it even launches, in the west, word is out that digital downloads will be around 10% cheaper than the retail price of games. Which means I'll just wait until Amazon drops the price to its usual half price after three months for most Vita games.

Sure, the store will be good for sales, and hopefully will have a better PS+ offering than the PSP ever got, but while it was a bit optimistic to expect the first rumoured 40% cheaper prices, I figure at least 20% off is needed to actually drive digital sales. Also with the bigger games likely to eat 4GB out of your expensive memory card, it will be cheaper overall to keep buying the boxed versions, just to save forking out for a memory card every few months.

Lets say you have an 8GB card and three 2GB games (plus space for data and other bits), to get any more games you need to spend £27 on a new card unless you want to start dumping GB of data and redownloading it (not sure if you can store them on a PC or PS3) when you want to get back in an older game.
